Problem with Guest Additions for Win 7 Guest on Ubuntu 13.10

I am attempting to install Guest Additions for a Window 7 64-bit Home Premium instance on VirtualBox ver. 4.2.16 running on Ubuntu 13.10.

The installation manual says, in part:
"In the "Devices" menu in the virtual machine's menu bar, VirtualBox has a handy menu item named "Insert Guest Additions CD image", which mounts the Guest Additions ISO file inside your virtual machine."

I have the correct Guest Additions ISO file, but there is no "Devices menu in the virtual machine's menu bar" because I can't navigate to it. The problem appears to be the Win 7 VM session captures control of the mouse. I can get control of the keyboard with the Right Ctrl key, but not the mouse.

This is different behavior then I experience with a Windows XP VM session. In the Windows VM, I can install the Guest Additions without difficulty as it does not capture control of the mouse. That environment appears to be running nominally.

So, is there a keyboard shortcut for Virtualbox ver. 4.2.16 running on Ubuntu 13.10 that I can use to get access to items in the Devices menu once I begin the Windows 7 installation process so I can load the Guest Additions?

Hit the host key (usually the right-ctrl key) to uncapture the mouse.

As I said in my posting, the host key uncaptures the keyboard but not the mouse.

Shut down guest. Mount the GAs in the CD. Launch the guest.

Did you define an USB filter which catches your mouse?

Yep...that was it exactly. Thanks!
