How do I connect to internet from Windows XP?

I - Installed guest additions
II - Configured the shared folders (In windows XP, accessed the network and browsed for the folder in the network)
III - Downloaded the driver for windows xp - Network Adapter Drivers for Windows XP*, Final Release - File name: PRO2K3XP_32.exe - link: (can't post it yet... but it is in the downloadcenter on intel website)
IV - Put the file in the shared folder
V - Accessed it and installed from the Windows XP VM.
VI - Happiness!

You could have avoided all of that hassle by using the defaults for a Windows XP guest (and the AMD PCnet emulated NIC).

on the VM > Network use bridge adapter and select the wireless connector that you have. Then your VM should have direct access to the wireless connector that you uses for your WiFi.

As you have woken it up, then for anyone who comes across it we have to clarify that this isn't always going to be the case. It has been posted repeatedly across the forums that bridged to Wi-Fi is outside of the specification and isn't guaranteed to work for everyone. Whilst it may have been successful for you, there are plenty of people for whom it isn't (me included).

Couldn't agree more... Plus, now there's a specific, sticky post "No internet for a WinXP guest" in the (wait for it...) "Windows Guests" section. Right where this, soon to be locked, thread is going to continue its sleep...
