Ah. I want my controller to be SATA versus IDE. I have managed to get Win7 Pro 64 bit. I'll post details later.
Can I change my controller to SATA versus IDE?
You really need to start reading the manual. But yes, just detach the .vdi from IDE and attach it to SATA.

XP does not support SATA with native drivers, but it's possible to install the Intel drivers. I'm not sure why you would bother though. The difference in a VM will be marginal - the performance of the host dominates the equation. The biggest benefit would be that you can attach more than 4 drives.

Yeah, I tried the command line and it was complaining, but now I see this:
