I have an official Windows 2000 install disk. I guess the file I want to use is setup.exe. Debian 7.3 is my host. I need to figure out how to get to the install wizard again so I can select the boot medium. I am running VBox 4.2.16. I have 580.1 GB of free memory. 10 GB for the VM. 1 GB of RAM.

What's your difficulty here? If Windows 2000 is already set up, then just inserting the CD will normally bring up the installation wizard. If it isn't set up, then just boot to it to install.

But in any case, selecting the boot medium is done from the VirtualBox settings, not from inside the guest.

Thanks it was just something simple I had to manually select the CD drive.

Now I am working in the guest and it is not recognizing a CD-ROM.

Are you using a physical CD, or have you made an image of it?

If you are using a physical disc, you should be able to make set the guest drive to "Host drive D:" (or whatever the letter is). If you have an ISO image, then just point the drive to that file. (Either is done from the "Storage" page of the machine settings. Select the drive on the Storage Tree then click the little dic icon on the extreme right.)
