I'm also having issues pairing my Shared_Folder. I'm using Qiime, but what guest user name do I use? Sorry for such a stupid question. This is doing my head in!

Quiime is based on Ubuntu64 so that is fine. You use the name you log into Quiime with.

Oh you are still here and answering - thanks!

No the content is still there on the host but I can not see it on the guest. When I change it to a different folder and add something
to this folder in either of them (host/guest) - you can not see it in the other.

When I set up the shared folder 4 weeks ago, I activated "Auto-mount" in the VM
and since then it was also always there when I started my guest, without any issues.

well, with the guest open, try going to the Devices Menu>Shared Folder in the Mac menubar , remove the shared folder, re-add it with auto-mount and permanent enabled and restart your guest.

That did not work unfortunately, but when I just re-installed the guest additions again, then the folders were back!

Thanks anyways!

Maybe there was a kernel update in the guest and no DKMS to automatically recreate the GA modules?

that's true. I haven't used a Linux guest that didn't rebuild the GAs in a long time. Good point.
