I updated to 4.3.10 r92951 last week, and have been having mouse selection issues since. Mainly on the OSX side, but inside the VM as well.
Symptoms include:
1. takes at least 2 clicks before action area shows active
2. active area is only in center of selection "box" - i.e., if click shows "active selection" is full word, only the exact center of the selection area responds to mouse click..
3. animation is jerky
4. Responses are slow
These symptoms are the worst when VirtualBox and Chrome (Mac) are running at the same time. When VB is running without Chrome, still present, but not as obvious.
When VB is not running, still some effect on OSX.
Symptoms are most obvious in OSX. VM Guest (Windows 7) has some delays, but otherwise ok.
System: Late 2011 Macbook Pro 17", 8gbm OS X 10.9.2
Any ideas? i've gone through all the standard adjustments. Haven't done a reset in a while. Restarting doesn't seem to have much effect.

installing any version of VirtualBox would have no effect on OSX and certainly not mouse problems. it's just a coincidence and something else is going on with your Mac.bsevier wrote: When VB is not running, still some effect on OSX.

Re: Mouse issues with Mavericks and 4.3.10
Update: did some more playing around, and looking through posts about VB and OSX.
I've been using, for a few years, a Microsoft Intelimouse (wireless to USB). 2nd one (first one died). Hadn't had any problems until last week after the VB upgrade. Saw some comments about VB and USB mice with Mavericks earlier that had been fixed. Decided to take off the MS mouse, and use my Magic Mouse (BT) that I normally use when I'm using the Mac away from the desk. IMMEDIATE changes - had to go back and change mouse preferences so I could keep up with it.
Apparently, from what MY experience is, is that either something crept back into the update of VB and undid the fix for USB mice, or else the update has a reaction with the Microsoft Intelimouse drivers. Alternate possibility, of course, that the MS mouse is beginning to fail.
Anyway, for now I'm back in business.

Re: Mouse issues with Mavericks and 4.3.10
glad you got it sorted.
years ago I had an Intellimouse mouse which died on me and I never replaced it. I'm not sure what USB mouse issues anyone had but I have been using a plain old wired Apple Mouse which of course is USB and I've never had a problem with it and VirtualBox in 5 years. I also have a Magic Mouse and a Touch Pad and really never tried them while in a guest. I would assume they work as well, sans gestures of course.

Re: Mouse issues with Mavericks and 4.3.10
This brush-off is not valid, there is definitely something wrong with mouse focus and control on this release of Virtualbox.
Neither the track pad nor an external PC mouse connected to my Macbook Pro can show/control a mouse cursor when inside a virtual CentOS livecd.
Is there a fix for this?
Thanks!!
EDIT: Oops, I am on VB 4.3.14 r95030

Yup. Insulting someone that is trying to provide some assistance surely will draw you a quick response.

No there is not. Something wrong with your setup? Chances are that yes. So, either fix/change your setup and then we start talking about valid and invalid conversations. Oh, and if you want to talk about your setup, here's something to read: Minimum information needed for assistance.CAguayo wrote:there is definitely something wrong with mouse focus and control on this release of Virtualbox.
