VirtualBox 4.3.10 - Windows 8.1 unable to use usb ports on W

I have a new Asus laptop(64bit) running windows 8.1, installed virtualbox 4.3.10(latest) and installed a window 7(64 bit) VM with extentions(guest additions...). I have tried every combination from usb filters to removing and reinstalling the drivers on the windows 7 VM. I cannot get any usb device that is being see ok from windows 8 on the windows 7 VM, nothing at all. I can here the sound when windows 8.1 release the usb device from it but when I go into device manager from within the windows 7 vm, I cannot see that its even being registered and doesnt appear at all. Can someone shine some light on getting the usb ports to work. What is the trick?

Follow the steps below. If there is a failure, please state which step failed:

1. Make sure that the extension pack is installed.
2. Create a USB filter in your guest settings while the device is plugged in the host. Delete all values except VendorID and ProductID.
3. Unplug the device.
4. Start your guest (the one that you applied the filter to). Let it start completely. Log in if you have to.
5. Plug your device. The filter should capture it and pass control to your guest.
6. If the device shows up in your host and is not captured by the filter, either the filter is incorrect, or there might be a problem with your filter installation.
7. Are you by any chance using a USB 3.0 port?

it does have usb 2.0 and 3.0 ports. The device has always show up on the guest in which I have created filters and etc. I forgot to add that the network card also is not able bridging/nat and etc. so I am unable to download update or access the internet. How could I reinstall the filter installation?
