Discuss the 4.3.10 release here. The purpose of this release is mainly to fix the regressions introduced by the improved MSR emulation in VirtualBox 4.3.8. And as usual, many other fixes...

The SHA256 and MD5 check sum files are still empty.

I can't start my Fedora Rawhide VM with 4.3.10. Hangs on "Starting virtual machine...". Worked fine with 4.3.8.

Edit: The same VM works normally again after reverting to 4.3.8.

Could you check if the VBoxSVC daemon is running when you get this error message with VBox 4.3.10? Is the a file ~/.VirtualBox/VBoxSVC.log for VBox 4.3.10?

Yes, VBoxSVC is running when it hangs, and I do get a VBoxSVC.log file. Versions of these files for both a successful 4.3.8 run, and a failed 4.3.10 run (which I have to kill with "killall VirtualBox") are attached.

Thanks robatino. Actually now it looks more like a crash of the actual VM process. Are you sure that there is no VBox.log file available for a VM started with 4.3.10? Do you see any 'segfault' message in 'dmesg' after you tried to start a VM with 4.3.10? If the 4.3.10 VM process crashed: Can you provide a core dump?

not to butt in but there seems to be a number of people in the Linux Host section that can't start their VMs with VB 4.3.10. The Mac version seems fine.

As I said, since VirtualBox hangs, I _have_ to kill it. The file I submitted was from after I did that. If you want, I could provide a copy of the file from before I kill it. I do have a copy of VBox.log (from the previous unsuccessful 4.3.10 run), which I've attached. Again, if you need copies from before I kill vbox, let me know.

Thanks for mentioning that. My host is Fedora 20 x86_64. I'll check the "Linux Hosts" section.

Edit: My problem does seem to be the same as the ones reported in the "VirtualBox on Linux Hosts" section, although none of the possible workarounds there work for me.

I've come up with two issues on the install of 4.3.10

Installing to win8.1pro. Install hung with "unable to rename network adapter, ...already exists" easy fix to rename and rerun the install.

Second issue. Win7 guest. previously worked with 3d acceleration enabled. With new guest additions the guest hung with black screen. Guest worked booting to safe mode. I uninstalled and re-installed additions and guest still hung.

Unchecking Enable 3d in the guest settings allowed boot to desktop. The Windows Experience Index went from 4.3 to 1.0 without 3d enabled, but at least the assessment still runs which it always failed before 4.3.8.

So we should not use the current packages?
I assume you will post here once the packages are updated?
