Hangs on shutting down

Post by escw0rm »

Hello everyone,

I have a windows server 2008 standard r2 problem.

I have two machines (I have copy the .vdi) so they are the same but diffrent stuff on them.

Both have the problem when I shutdown or reboot the server they hangs on shutting down state.

I have tried to disable/enable clear RAM at shutdown(It works a couple of day and after that the problem appear again). I have disabled services(not apache and my database).

One have 8 GB RAM and the other 16 GB RAM.

I have tried to google on this but no one have a real solution and answer on why this happen.

Anyone know this issue with virtualbox? Nothing shows in the event log.

Hello,
try watching at virtual cd/dvd.
I noticed it hangs if the media isn't correctly removed before shutting down, or it is phisically removed (deleted from disk) but not told to virtualbox (it thinks the device exsits and tries to access it).
This also for usb devices.

Need help.

I will remove the USB at next reboot. Modifyvm --usb off. But how do I remove the DVD driver?

AND is there anything else I should remove that could be the problem?

Can add that I have one more server with the same problem, but it have rebooted correctly in a few weeks now... And I don't remeber what I changed. So I can add that the both machines have hanged on the same time, and CD/DVD can't be mount on two guests on the same time? But USB can?

I don't think it's because of virtualbox the windows server freeze on "shutting down" in the OS.
What's running on the guest:
Apache tomcat with around 60-100 websites
apache2 + php + mysql with just a few websites

Database connection for apache tomcat

It have 12-13 GB RAM and 6 cores CPU... Never going up to 100 %.

The guest have freezed now maybe two weeks everytime. The other guest have rebooted with no problem instead for weeks now.
The other guest have only:
A business server, nothing more. 16 GB RAM and 6 cores CPU

Why have you modified the log before posting it? I don't want it converted to RTF format, I just want the zipped virgin log, nothing else. However, it must if possible be the log of a completed session - the log provided only covers the first 28 seconds.

No, I just want one log which shows the problem and has not been modified, except by zipping it. This is the last time I will ask.
