Using virtual boxes as to create LDAP network

Post by ostiniatoze »

As part of a school project I attempted to create a virtual Ubuntu server running LDAP and a virtual Ubuntu client to connect to it. I tried the same with NIS, but to no avail. I tried many different things, but alas, to no avail and before I keep trying I have to ask: is there anything about virtualbox itself that prevents this from working? Everywhere is pointing to the right place, ports are unblocked, all the configurations are correct, I just don't understand it.

Not really. The only thing that would be of any consideration is the network adapter choice. See chapter 6 in the VirtualBox manual to see what each type will allow.

That doesn't seem to be it, but thank you. As long as I know it is possible I'll keep looking.
