Using virtual boxes as to create LDAP network
As part of a school project I attempted to create a virtual Ubuntu server running LDAP and a virtual Ubuntu client to connect to it. I tried the same with NIS, but to no avail. I tried many different things, but alas, to no avail and before I keep trying I have to ask: is there anything about virtualbox itself that prevents this from working? Everywhere is pointing to the right place, ports are unblocked, all the configurations are correct, I just don't understand it.

Not really. The only thing that would be of any consideration is the network adapter choice. See chapter 6 in the VirtualBox manual to see what each type will allow.is there anything about virtualbox itself that prevents this from working?

That doesn't seem to be it, but thank you. As long as I know it is possible I'll keep looking.
