hello,
I am just new for this virtual box , I just installed it and then installed XP on it and now I am trying to install VM virtualbox extension pack-4 but I don't have any idea from where I have to install this extension pack from host itself or from virtual machine itself,
do I have to install it from virtual machine if so How I can get this extension pack to virtual machine. which steps I have to take.
I tried to drag and drop from host to virtual machine bit didn't work . I have gone to advance option in settings and put drag and drop bidirectional but I can´t drag anything from host to virtual machine .
1. which steps I have to take to install extension pack which resides at this moment in downloads map of the host .
2.which steps I have to take to can drop and drag from host to virtual machine and from virtual machine to host.

<YourVM> -> Settings -> General -> Advanced -> Drag'n'Drop -> HostToGuest or Bidirectional (although the latter does not work yet, AFAIK)

Just in case you haven't sorted it out in your mind yet: The Extension Pack is not the same as Guest Additions - some people seem to get the two muddled up.
Installing the Extension Pack is done in the host. You can do it from the VirtualBox main window or simply by double-clicking the .vbox-extpack file. It provides a number of extra facilities, as outlined in §1.5 of the documentation.
Guest Additions are installed from within the guest VM. These provide a completely diffeent set of extra facilities, as outlined in §4. If you tell it to install them when the guest is running, VBox will insert a virtual CD in the VM's CD drive. How you proceed from there will depend upon the OS - in XP the CD will probably auto-start.
