Can't install guest additions Win 7 guest/OSX host

Post by Asflyboy »

I can't install guest additions on a Windows 7 guest I just installed on an OSX host. The oracle folder is missing from the Windows 7 install. When I go to Devices=>Insert Guest Additions CD image nothing happens. I'm pretty new with this. Any help would be appreciated.

I get them installed and then I'm told to reset the Guest. I have no idea what that really means, I restart the ubuntu vm and when it comes back up the additions are not installed. Same with virtualbox. What am I missing? I can't get past the successful install to show the additions or use them, yet if I install again it uninstalls! But I can't use them, excuse my ignorance please.

running virtualbox on a mac imac with osx 10.9.2 - the vm is set at 4 gb ram, and 67gb hdd, the guest? is ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS

Read Chapter 4.2.2: Guest Additions for Linux. Follow the step by step instructions, and if it fails at some point, please be specific about the steps that you took and the error message(s) that you encounter.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
