I'm in a course that assumes Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 8; however when I set up my immutable VBox, IE 11 was included as though the images were pre-configured. The text, "Guide to Parallel Operating Systems with Windows 7 and Linux", by Carswell, Jiang, and Freese, refers to IE 8 in the exercises and I found out the hard way that IE 11 is a little different. A search of Microsoft's site suggests that IE 11 is the default for Windows 7; they relegate IE 8 to ole Windows XP. Would it be possible to force IE 8 on Windows 7 in the hope it would allow me to do the exercises? Otherwise, I will just have to figure out how some tasks are done in IE 11 if the directions are specific to IE 8 - as I did before.
Thanks,
Sim

Re: Windows 7 and Internet Browsers
This is nothing to do with virtualization. Whether you can "downgrade" from IE11 to IE8 is entirely a Microsoft issue, and is not connected with whether the machine is virtual or not. You need to ask on a Microsoft forum rather than here.
