Hello,
Two questions:
I am installing version VirtualBox-4.3.6-91406-Win on a Windows XP host.
No Guest Additions
When I start the Windows 7 VM, I get the following message;
"A critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped."
I also installed the same version on thumb drive and it works well. The issue is that my instructor said that my Windows 7 VM should be running IE 8 instead of IE 11 and that I must have updated it. I protested but still looked for a way to remove IE 11 and install the former to no avail. Is that possible? I also tried to create a new Windows 7 VM with IE 8 but that did not work either. Did I miss something?
Thanks,
Sim Hughes

Not enough RAM to run a guest
You realize that you will not be able to do anything with this guest, IE: update or save files since it is immutable to it, right
Processor is very old, so even if you add RAM to the host don't expect too much from the guest.

Thanks, those answers saved me a lot of time. Another question; is it possible to run IE 8 in a Windows 7 VM as my instructor maintains? Microsoft seems to be defaulting to IE 11.

Re: Windows 7 Virtual Machine Issues
This seems to be a question for a Windows/IE forum. VM or not has nothing to do with it.simleon wrote:is it possible to run IE 8 in a Windows 7 VM as my instructor maintains? Microsoft seems to be defaulting to IE 11.
