still can freeze at install time

As a note, upgrading from 4.3.6 to 4.3.8 today, the installer got to the section that says "this may take several minutes" and then *hung forever* so...there is probably still a bug lurking somewhere there.
My work around seemed to have been uninstalling the older version then installing latest, but it may be unrelated.
