[4.3.8] No 64-bit options despite VT-x enabled [solved]

Post by Patriot »

Hello,

I'm having trouble getting a 64-bit Ubuntu Guest OS to run on my Windows 8.1 Host. Virtualbox seems to be under the impression that 64-bit Guest OS'es aren't supported by my current setup. Whenever I create a new VM, it doesn't give me options for 64-bit guests at all. If I create a 32-bit VM, I cannot select more than one CPU (despite having a 4 core, non-hyperthreading CPU), and the "acceleration" tab on the system page of the VM settings has been greyed out.

I have double checked and VT-x is enabled, that is, the "Intel Virtualization Technology" option has been enabled in my BIOS. It might also be worth noting that I didn't have any problems with earlier versions (although admittedly, I don't remember exactly what version that was) of Virtualbox. I have included the VboxSVC.log with my post.

I'm hoping you can help me/explain to me why these options are disabled.

EDIT: For the record, I'm obviously running this from a 64-bit host OS.

EDIT2: Apparently, this has to do with Hyper-V. To solve the issue:

* Use "Turn windows features on or off" to disable Hyper-V
* Uninstall Virtualbox
* Reboot your system
* Reinstall Virtualbox
