VT-x enabled but Oracle VM guest not detecting Hardware Virt

Post by njk84sg »

Hi All,

I have enabled VT-x (Intel) on my Lenovo ThinkCentre Edge 93 desktop. However, when I installed vbox on my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server and started Oracle VM Server, OVMS started without Hardware Virtualisation enabled.

I have checked all available settings but they are all turned on.

What should I do to enable Hardware Virtualisation?

Thanks.

It's the VirtualBox host software which sees and uses VT-x, not the guest OS. Just like it's the host software that sees your actual graphics and network APIs - the guest just sees simulations.

Nested VMs are not supported in VirtualBox, even the ones that don't require VT-x.

Hi mpack,
Does this mean that I have issues running HVM under OVS running in vbox? I have no issues starting PVM under OVS running in vbox.
Thanks. Cheers.
