I have installed a debian wheezy on windows 7 host. I allocated just 1 cpu for the wheezy box during the installation. After the installation, I installed the VBox guest addition CD to increase the display resolution. Now it's done, and I increased the number of cpus from VM setting to 4 ( i have 8 physical cpus ). But when I do "cat /proc/cpuinfo", I still see only one cpu.
I tried cpu hotplug using VBoxManage. When I try to add cpu 1, 2, 3, it all reports cpu is already plugged in.
Anybody has an idea why my debian does not see multiple processors? Thanks in advance.

Maybe it doesn't have an SMP kernel. i686 or better should be able to use multi-processor.
