On a Windows 7 x64 Host, running Virtualbox (version 4.3.6 r91406) I can't find a version of Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Lubuntu/Mint that doesn't crash as soon as Java is invoked from any web browser. Unfortunately I need Java installed for a ancient custom application.
I eventually found a workaround by disabling the "Enable 3D Acceleration" option under Settings->Display->"Video" tab. Does anyone know why this fixes the Virtualbox crash? I'd like to re-enable 3D acceleration on my guests.
Thanks!

Well not sure but instead of disabling 3D acceleration I would disable the browser trying to use the GPU direct. This seems to fix most browser issues since the guest can not actually access the host GPU.
