Windows 8.1 configuration help

I've got a few questions about running Windows 8.1 under OS X.

The guest OS will randomly take focus. I'm not sure what is happening, but I can be reading a web page and suddenly Windows 8.1 comes into focus. Anyway to stop this behavior?

After a recent update to VirtualBox 4.3.8 r92456 when using the guest OS in full screen mode the Mac OS X hot corner no longer works and the mac dock no longer appears when I bring my mouse to the bottom of the screen. Both behaviors return to normal after I shut down the Windows 8.1 guest.

I'm running this on a 4771 i7 with 32 gig of RAM. I'm trying to figure out what the best configuration would be for the processor tab? How many CPUs can I assign? I think I can choose between 1 and 4 for each core, but I'm not sure.

Last is when I tried to add a new storage VirtualBox decided that was the boot disk and wouldn't start up until I removed the storage. What steps do I need to do in order to add another storage that would be the Windows 8.1 secondary drive and leave the current storage as the boot partition?

Thanks for any insight!

This is a quirk of OS X since I believe Lion. My work-around is to have a Finder window opened on selected
'spaces' to "/Volumes" [Finder --> Go --> Go to Folder ...]. This is not a reliable work-around, 80%.

BTW, VMware Fusion users have same complaint.

Best of Luck

Well I still like OS X, just a little less!

What about the "I'm running this on a 4771 i7 with 32 gig of RAM. I'm trying to figure out what the best configuration would be for the processor tab? How many CPUs can I assign? I think I can choose between 1 and 4 for each core, but I'm not sure." portion of my question? I'm just not sure if the VirtualBox's setting are representing the i7 as one processor or a processor for each core? and if so how many cores does the i7 have? I believe 4?

The i7 4770 has 4 cores, 8 threads.

So it has 4 cores.. How many processors does that equate to on the processor configuration tab?

I believe this link answers my questions about cores: http://superuser.com/questions/297697/a ... virtualbox
