your cpu doesn't support long mode use a 32 bit distribution

Post by suvendunayak »

Dear Gurus,
I am trying to install 64-bit guest OS (OEL) on my laptop which is running on 64-bit Windows 7. However while doing so I am getting "your cpu doesn't support long mode use a 32 bit distribution". Earlier I was able to install on a different laptop but now on any laptop the same problem is coming. I read many post from here but could not get any solution. Kindly advice

Make sure Hyper-V or XP-mode is not enabled on the host.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

And that hardware virtualization is available and enabled in your bios, and that your CPU also supports Hardware virtualization.
