VM frozen with red bar at the top of the screen

Post by ARQEROS »

Hi

sometimes virtual machine gets frozen and the red bar appears at the top of the guest screen. In this state the VM doen't respond to anything and the only option is to power off the machine. Some info:

> VirtualBox: 4.3.6 r91406
> Host: Windows 7 64 bit (8 GB RAM)
> Guest: Windows 7 32 bit (2GB RAM)
> Guest Additions Installed

But the same problem also happened to me on different configuration (VB: 4.2.4, Host: Win XP Pro x64, Guest: Win 7 x64) but with very similar VM settings.

When this problem occurs, virtualbox is consuming 50% CPU time of quad core processor.

Looks very similar to this problem (except the fact that it does not happen to me so regularly):

I see nothing amiss in the log provided. I see a normal (if short - 7mins) session, which is terminated normally. I see that 3D acceleration is being used, which I still don't have a lot of faith in.

It seems that it helped. I turned off 3D acceleration and the red bar hasn't appeared for about a week.

Thank you!

Just for someone else, it looked like this:
