Shared folder dialog hangs

Just trying to add to shares folder to my Windows 7 guest. Doesn't work. When I open the shared folders dialog, the *whole* VM window hangs. From another Virtuabox instance, luckily, I could still pull a snapshot, so there's that.
So yeah, the shared folders dialog just hangs. Consuming maximum cpu (on a single thread). There's a progress bar at the bottom, stuck at 44%. No idea what that progressbar indictes, it doesn't say anywhere... What does it do exactly at 44%? Whatever it is, that part doesn't work properly.
Using Virtualbox 4.3.6 on Windows 7 x64.

Well, not always. I'm doing the exact same thing a second time, and now it does work. How can that be?
