Virtual Box 4.3.6/Mavericks host/Windows 7 Pro 64 bit Guest:
I am running the Windows 7 as an administrator but have been hitting some "need Administrator access" issues.
I first noticed it when trying to replace the Winhelp32.exe file with one that will open *.chm Help files. Whether I try copying over it, attempting to rename first, I'm stopped by the message "You must have Administrator access to..."
Also, I have a few old programs that need to write a preference file to the registry the first time they are run but I get a message stating it cannot write to the registry, which I believe is due to the same issue.
Am I missing something here? I don't have this issue with the same programs on a very similar but native Windows 7 PC, which I also run as a user with Admin privileges.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
P.S. After 2 decades as a PC user I am just now getting started with a MacBook Pro but still have my Windows favorites so am hoping VB will be my savior.

Re: Running as Administrator, access denied issues
This behaviour is the default behaviour starting from Windows 7 with the UAC (User Access Control) feature. Nothing to do with Virtualbox.

Re: Running as Administrator, access denied issues
Thanks!
It's been over 4 years since I last changed that setting on my Windows PC (which was when I did my last Windows installation) so of course I totally forgot about it... I guess that's just age taking atoll on the memory...
Still, it seems a bit weird I had to set it to never notify me of anything before everything worked.
