HELP! I've uninstalled VIRTUALBOX, now 80GB less on harddisk

Post by Gordy73 »

Hello,
today i tried to install Virtualbox and Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro with osx Mavericks. Everything worked fine after a little train.
After some test i removed virtual drive with Windows 7 (i did 2-3 times with different versions) but now i realized that even without virtual drive, my space available is 80gb less!!!!!!!
My hard disk is 250GB and when i've installed VB it was 150Gb (more or less), now it's 74GB !!!!! i uninstalled also VB but noting changed and no other application were installed.
I've checked everywhere but there is no visible file or clue about this ghost amount of memory.

Please help me, i don't want to format and reinstall everything. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Thanks,

Gordy

maybe, but in 4 months it never happened.
Just one last question. When i remove virtual "os" on Vbox, are there any cache files or hidden files left somewhere?

It depends on how you removed it. The correct way is to first use the GUI to remove and delete the guest/s, then use the uninstall tool from the VirtualBox folder.
You can do all of this manually but that requires you knowing the Mac file structure and location of apps and data.
