So I have been reading a ton of articles on here about how to configure Wireless to work on MAC OSX Host Virtual Box, running Windows 7.

I have yet to be able to get my internet to work and therefore unable to install files such as project that require an internet connection in order to install :(

Here is how I have my current setup; this is what was recommended on multiple forums

Here is what I get whenever I get into windows

I have tried many other settings as well with no luck at all. I work IT for a living but not networks, so hoping someone could assist. I used Parallels for a very long time and loved it, but felt that I would use VirtualBox since it was free and also an Oracle product. This is just a major hurdle I cannot get over  . Is there something I have to do with the MAC address to get this to work?

Here are the settings on my airport just in case they are needed

In the VirtualBox Network settings for the adapter you may want to put a check in the box for Cable Connected.

None of the adapters have the cable connected. At least one of them needs to be connected. I would stick with NAT and disable the other two.
Remember the guest will not see a wireless card.

So when I check cable connected, should I do it on both? I just noticed I had it selected on one and not the other. Now that I have it checked on both it appears to be working on my home internet. However when I go over to my office (which has a different router) it stops working again. I read something about how some routers dont play nice with Virtual box but didnt know if that was just a rumor or was the case

Thank you so much for the help btw!

It's always possible for the network you're using to detect that you're using a Virtual Machine (or another computer on the same connection), maybe such feature is in place. Might be worth checking with your IT team.

I'm new to VB (Win 7 Pro client/Mavericks host) and have had similar issues setting up the network connections.

After a 3-4 hours over a couple days trying different settings and ready to tear the rest of my air out, I found another site that had great info about Virtual Box and networks I finally got an Internet connection through my Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter.

However, I have yet to get my AirPort Wireless connection working, which I still need to do to access a network drive on my local wireless network. I recall reading something about the need to set the VB network adapter to use the same MAC address as the AirPort. But unfortunately, now that I have more time to work on it, I seem to have lost the link to the site that provided that info. I think there was something about it in the Troubleshooting section of the VB manual as well so I'll dig back into it.

I believe there was also a thread on here that shed more light on the wireless issues, but the Search function leaves a lot to be desired and I'm still trying to locate it.

But, for what it's worth, from what I do recall and my experience in the last few days, while NAT is the default setting, I feel it is the lesser desired choice. Selecting Bridged is when things began to work.

BTW, the only time I got anything to work was to be sure the 'Cable Connected' box IS CHECKED. This assures the (virtual) cable will be connected when you start your Virtual Machine, which is what I assume you'd want.

Good luck!
If I ever get my wireless network figured out I'll be sure to share what I find out.
