Hi,

I have a virtual machine for ubuntu. I accidentally deleted the snapshot files from windows explorer. Now, I can not access the virtual machine.

==================== [Error Message] ====================
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Ubuntu - 12.10.

No error info.

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: ProgressProxy
Interface: IProgress {c20238e4-3221-4d3f-8891-81ce92d9f913}
=======================================================

Can anyone tell me how can I fix this?

Thanks.

If you don't have a backup your only option is to re-install.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. If I re-install. Can I read my files I have in that virtual m/c anyhow?

Reinstalling the application does not affect data files (the VMs), but making a backup is never a bad idea.

Actually the re-install is the guest. They deleted the snapshots ans the guest will not boot.
You can retrieve the guest to before the snapshots but I suspect that it will be corrupt anyway. It is also possible that you can attach the old VDI as second drive to the new guest and retrieve files but if the files you need were on the snapshot/s they will be gone with the snapshot.

One other thought, can you restore the deleted files from the recycle bin, or were they too large?
