Problem is same during installation of linunx on windows 7 or windows 8 laptops.

I downloaded the iso image OracleLinux-R6-U4-Server-x86_64-dvd.iso

Allocated 1 GB ram to the virual box.

As part of Linux installation when I click on the first item in the menu install or upgrade an existing system

This kernel requires x8-64 but only detects i686 cpu
Unable to boot please use a kernel appropriate to your cpu

If I have to down load a different linux OS or I can do anything to make the linux get installed please let me know.
I downloaded the linux iso image from below

Any suggestion/advice on this will he highly appreciated.

In this forum remember seeing disable hyperware/xp etc., Please let me know how to do that in windows 8 and 7. I am trying in both hosts.
If that isnot the fix please let me know any other.

Thanks
Dara

Make sure that hardware virtualization is enabled in the hosts bios.

Are you sure that you've set your guest to be 64-bit?
