Installing Windows 8 Enterprise

Post by bz032002 »

Good afternoon,

I am attempting to install Windows 8 Enterprise (x86) as a virtual machine but am receiving a couple of errors. The first is directly from VirtualBox stating that VT-x/AMD-v hardware acceleration is not available on the system. The second is a Windows Stop Code error (0x0000005D). Upon my research I found that a common reason for the Windows Stop Code was not having the No Execute Bit enabled via the system BIOS, I have made sure this is enabled (even tried disabling it to no avail) but still run into the same issue. Is there any work around to get this VM up and running?

Host System Information:

Dell Optiplex 760
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
3GB Ram
Windows Server 2012 (x64)

Thank you

NX bit is only available if VT-x is enabled and available.
You don't specify which Core 2 Duo you have - some have the VT-x capability, some don't. Make sure you check your BIOS for it and enable it if not already.
Finally, Windows 8/2012 enable Hyper-V by default which lock the VT-x for itself. If Hyper-V is installed, remove it and VT-x will be available if it was taken by it.

If none of these works, please read Minimum information needed for assistance and provide a VM log, along with your exact CPU spec.
