Hello,
On my iMac I installed WindowsXP prof. from the original CD and gave it the code number on the CD box.
(I did not register, like I never did before). All seems to work.
However, no updates.
When I go to the Windows update website it says:

(*) The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view.

The old PC that had this WindowsXP on it is totally destroyed so I can not take any action from there.
What can I do?

Although technically this is neither a VirtualBox nor a Mac issue, I'll post the reply in case that someone else after you decides (by accident) to search for the solution.

• Update to SP2.
• Update to SP3.
• Update to Windows Update Agent 3.0 (warning, direct download link from Microsoft).
• Windows update should run now.

If that works for you, please change the original post's title to "[SOLVED] ..." and remove the "on MAC" as well, so that the rest of the community can benefit as well from your findings.

The easiest way to do the installs and updates was to visit this forum
and this thread to be able to click the links from within the virtual Windows.

The cause of the initial failure is that this Windows kit was purchased in 2005.
The update mechanisms have been changed a bit since then.
