Hi Everyone,

I am new to virtual box and this forum. I am having trouble connecting my windows server 2008 VM guest 10.271.213.20 to the network?

My setup:
AT&T DSL router setup in Bridgemode.
Netgear router LAN setup with static IP 10.271.213.16 address. Using router as DHCP server. Added range IP 10.271.213.2 - 254
I can access the internet okay on my machine (host).
Roles I setup on windows server 2008 R2 - AD, DC and DNS.

I suspect that this has nothing to do with VirtualBox networking, and a lot to do with Active Directory.

Once you install AD and DNS, the server uses itself for DNS, so it will not resolve Internet URLs. I would set the DNS in the DC to forward to a public DNS (use your ISP or a public provider like 4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8.8) .

hello,

I did set the DNS in the DC to forward to a public DNS 4.2.2.2 or 8.8.8 and i have not connectivity.

My AT&T routers in setup in Bridge mode.
local PC setting:
IP 10.71.213.3
SM 255.255.255.0
GW 10.71.213.6

any thoughts?

I still think that this is a Windows problem, not a VirtualBox one.

A DC should not get its IP address from DHCP. It should have a static IP and it should use its own IP (or a loopback address) for DNS. DHCP on the router will hand out the router's IP for DNS, and that is not compatible with AD.
