Host (Window) and Guest (Oracle Enterprise Linux)

Post by PrashantJain »

Dear All,

I installed virtual box (has Oracle Enterprise Linux OS) on Window 7 (standalone machine with cable internet). I want to configure network between host and guest in such way that host can access web application running on guest and guest can access cable internet which is directly connected to host. I am very new to virtual box networking. I heard that virtual box has very strong networking. Please help me to configure this. Also let me know if folder sharing is also possible between host and guest.

If this is redundant post then please direct me any existing post where this issue is already solved.

Thanks,
Prashant

No, you're not new. And yes, it's (almost) redundant. How about your own question almost a year ago on the same subject?

The only difference, between your last question and this one, is that you want to have internet access from the guest as well. Add a second network adapter and either make it NAT (the easiest) or Bridged. The manual has more details...
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Thanks for reminding me my old post. It seems like over one year I lost my previous knowledge over it and also forgot my previous post :D

But thanks for your reply. I try adding a second adapter.

Thanks,
Prashant
