Colors look like shit (Longhorn)
Unfortunately I can't post an image because I'm not autoconfirmed, so let me explain:
It uses the old school Windows 4-bit colors. Even worse, I can't change them. Fix?

Re: Colors look like shit (Longhorn)
- If it has that specific color, don't use it in the bathroom.
- Does it look something like this thread?
- Does the solution proposed (disable 3D) helps?

3D is already disabled.socratis wrote:

The graphics are not corrupted, just downgraded.
It looks like Windows 9x when it comes to color, but it's an operating system from 2004. I have an operating system from 2001 (Windows XP Pro) and the colors look fine.
So what can I do next?

Have you ever seen Windows 8 before? It looks like what you talking about on native hardware. Flat with no desktop decoration.

Re: Colors look like shit (Longhorn)
Then he wouldn't have included the word "Colors" in the description. "Longhorn" alone could summarize the user's feelings...
Sorry couldn't resist

Just pointing out not matter what it is the past becomes the future at some point. Actually even 3.11 had better color than 8 but I regress.

1) That means Windows Vista. Are you sure?brandonsky wrote:Longhorn
2) According to your log, you have selected "Windows XP" as your guest. Conflicts with quoted statement.
3) The Guest Additions are not installed (hint: look in the manual for Guest Additions).
4) We still don't have a clue (as in a screenshot) of what exactly you mean by "brownish".

Re: Colors look like shit (Longhorn)
There was no released operating system called LongHorn. LongHorn was a code name for a development project. If you have something actually called LongHorn then it's either stolen or an alpha, and in both cases all bets are off. I notice that the ISO is in a folder called "Torrents".
As to using something other than 16 color mode or the current palette, it should just be a matter of configuring the display settings and display theme. Even better would be to install the GAs.

I can't install GAs. At the end I get an ERROR 0000065b function failed error. with exit code 2. Here's a shot:mpack wrote:There was no released operating system called LongHorn. I know it's late, but I had the same problem as you and I just fixed it today.
All you have to do is install Guest Additions version 3.2.8 (that's what I used, maybe the older ones work too) and it sets up just fine.
