Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition 64 bit

I run a .NET based web app on the Guest which includes SQL Server.
Initially the app runs extremely fast but gradually over an hour or so the performance gets worse, with some momentary freezing (3-4 seconds)
Behavior is the same if I access the app with Guest or Host browser (both IE9).
I routinely run Defrag on host/guest and delete the temp files.

Looking for any suggestions, thanks!

Re: Guest Performance Deteriorates
You say 3GB of RAM has been assigned but it shows 2GB in the log. I would think 3GB would be a minimum and 4GB better running SQL server in Win2008
Watch the page file while running and see if it is thrashing.

Re: Guest Performance Deteriorates
Thanks for your prompt response! I will increase the Guest ram to 4G. So does my description sound like memory is being depleted?
( That is very odd maybe I didn't capture the current log? I did a right-click on the VM, Show Log and saved the first tab Vbox.log to disk then uploaded. Below is my memory config.)

Re: Guest Performance Deteriorates
You can read it for yourself at the top of the log. Assuming this is the log for the guest something is not right.
00:00:01.684480 Log opened 2014-01-22T19:33:20.322964100Z
00:00:03.271560 RamSize <integer> = 0x00000000bb800000 (3 145 728 000, 2 GB)
But yes it sounds like memory depletion, especially with SQL it likes a lot.

Re: Guest Performance Deteriorates
Actually, 3 145 728 000 / 1024 / 1024 = 3000 MB / 1024 = 2.93 GB. VBox is "trimming" the number incorrectly.Perryg wrote:3 145 728 000, 2 GB
@LoztInSpace
3 GB = 3072 MB and if you want to take it to 4 GB that would be 4096 MB.

Re: Guest Performance Deteriorates
Ah, thanks for the clarification on the RAM, I was about to flog myself for somehow posting the wrong log.
I have increased the RAM and will be hitting it hard tomorrow so hopefully will see an improvement.
Thanks!
