Mac OSX mavericks unable to get on network

Hello,
I recently got a new macbook pro on OSX mavericks 10.9.1 and having trouble with virtualbox getting on the network, So far i've tried every option in the adapter settings using every adapter in "bridged" mode as well as "NAT"
My previous macs had no issues getting on the network using bridged mode, but the VM's only detect a local adapter and never a usable "eth" interface.
this problem is getting pretty persistent and i cant seem to find a workaround for it yet, the tips about reinstalling virtualbox and making the /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.virtualbox.startup.plist did not work for me.
One problem is my system is built with a image using en4: as the primary adapter, I wonder if that's throwing off vbox,
I've Xx'd out my mac address below but this is what ifconfig is showing
