Problem Installing Mint 16 on VB

I hope some one can help me with this issue I am having installing Mint 16- xfce (64-bit).
I am using VirtualBox on my Windows 7 machine also 64-bit.
VirtualBox version is the most up to date from their website 4.3.6

In VB I have selected for Mint:

I have selected Linux 2.6/3x
Choose 1024 mb
Choose 8Gb memory
Selected VDI

My Problem is:

When I go to the start virtual machine (to install the .iso file), the pop up box with the Mint logo does the count down from 10 to zero and then just hangs there. So I am left with just the Mint logo. It is very frustrating because I have installed other operating systems onto virtual box but have never encountered a problem like this before.

I have attached a log file. Hope this of some help.

Thanks in advance for any help.

1) 64-bit guests need hardware-virtualzation enabled in the hosts bios.
2) when creating the 64-bit guest you must select 64-bit in General -> Basic -> version.
3) If running Windows as host you must make sure hyper-v or xp mode is not enabled on the host. MS does not play well and wants it all.

Note: the t3100 processor does not support VMX so no 64-bit guests

Thank you for your response.

1)I have tried to enable virtualization in the Bios but to no avail as my laptop does not support it as you said I think it has something to do with the CPU.

2)Also when I want to select a guest operating system in VB I dont get any option of selecting a 64 bit option. So yet again I am thinking this is down to no virtualization being enabled. Although I am not sure as I am noob and learning everyday!!

So has anyone any other suggestions as how I might get to install Linux on my VM as I need it for college this semester.

Thanks in advance

Install 32 bit or i686 version.

I initially had the same issue with the 64-bit Mint LiveCDs for Mints 14, 15 and 16, until I changed this setting. Note that booting in compatibility mode generates this error:
Loading /casper/vmlinuz........
Loading /casper/initrd.lz........................ready.
This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU.
However, I have a 64-bit Mint VM I created several months ago (under a previous version of VB) that has been running Mint 14 flawlessly, despite the fact that it's set to "Linux 2.6 / 3.x", NOT "(64 bit)". The same 64-bit LiveCD images boot just fine in that VM, but not in any new VMs I create until I change to 64-bit.

Any idea why?

VBoxManager showvminfo for the working VM:

If you took the time to read the discussion topics for recent releases you would already know why.

Well, now that was a very unhelpful response.

Looking at the board index, there's no "discussion topics for recent releases" forum, so I'm not even sure where one would find these topics. I did spend over an hour searching on and reading about the specific error message, and more time perusing the General/Using Virtualbox forum, but I don't have hours and hours to spend just browsing around the VB forums. Nothing I did see answered my question, so I asked it here.

If you don't want to answer my question, i understand. But why bother replying just to say, "I'm not going to answer your question"?

I admit that I get exasperated sometimes when different people are asking the same FAQ question 4 or 5 times every day. The purpose of my response was to remind you to check for previous answers before asking your question.

The discussion topic for the latest release (and some earlier releases) is a sticky near the top of the "Using VirtualBox" forum. They are designed to be hard to miss.
