Fullscreen/Resolution for Win 8.1

Post by billybag »

Sorry for asking this. i have googled it so i know how many other people have asked but i didn't get a clear answer to if it were ever resolved. i have installed guest addons. in safemode. i am using VB 4.3.6. windows 7 host. the resolution is grayed out and stuck at 1024x768. Fullscreen and seamless and all that work, but the resolution never changes so i just get a thick black frame in fullscreen mode and a big thick transparent frame in seamless.

Once your VM is up and running, check under the View menu and see if the "Auto-resize Guest Display (Host-G)" is enabled.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Windows above XP do not need the drivers installed in safe mode. Actually that will prevent the proper drivers from being installed.
Install again in normal mode and select no to the d3d drivers and instead install the wddm drivers.

i installed it in safe mod only after installing it 4 times in normal mode. However i didn't do any driver selection. i was never given an option to.

Install again and select 3D then say no and you will be presented with the wddm drivers.

i get a screen that tells me to select the components to install. Guest Addons and D3D support. Both grayed out. Both unable to unselect. i then have the option to go back, cancel, or install...
