After upgrading the CPU in my Linux Mint 14 system the following error message occurs when I attempt to open any of my VM's:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine MS WinXP Home.
cpum#1: "CPU model" mismatch: host=0x17 saved=0xf [ver=14 pass=final] (VERR_SSM_LOAD_CPUID_MISMATCH).
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
Is there a resolution that avoids reinstalling?

Re: Cannot start VM after upgrading CPU
Was/were the guest/s in saved mode instead of shut down?

Re: Cannot start VM after upgrading CPU
Then you will need to discard the saved state before they will work.

Re: Cannot start VM after upgrading CPU
You shut the virtual guest down the same way you do on metal.
