VMs are running slower after installing a second 1 TB HDD

Post by Niculescu Tudor »

Hi All,

I am encountering the following problem. Initially, I had a single 1 TB Hdd. ON that HDD I created 2 Win 7 VMs with many snapshots. Recently, I installed a second HDD of 1 TB with data on it. Now I am having 2 HDD2 of 1 TB each. After this event, I noticed that when trying to start the VMs, or trying to revert to a snapshot, when trying to start the VM, it takes a lot more time. Also, the VM is running slower. The Guest OS seems to work OK, the only difference i notice is on the the VMs. Also the drive letters for the older HDD did not change.
Did any of you encouter a similar problem?

Thanks,
Tudor Niculescu

There is no problem in VirtualBox with adding a second drive or with using 1TB drives. If I was you I would be looking for a less direct explanation of your problem, e.g. congestion due to lack of host disk space - it seems particularly unwise to use snapshots in this scenario. Also look at disk indexing etc.
