I have an Ubuntu Linux guest running on a Macbook Pro (OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.5). VirtualBox version 4.3.6. I need to install some Linux software from a DVD, but the host keeps ejecting the DVD. I have guest additions installed. This happens with or without passthrough enabled. I'm new to VirtualBox and I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks!

How did you get a hold of the DVD? Did you get the actual DVD (physically) from a Linux "party" or did you download an .iso and burnt it with 'Disk Utility'?

In the latter case, you don't have to burn it; you can simply mount the .iso as a virtual DVD. Make sure that the MD5/SHA or other checksum posted on their website matches what you have downloaded...

Or, it could be a filesystem that your host does not recognize and simple ejects it. In that case, capture the host DVD in your guest *before* you insert your DVD. Insert it and see if it helps...

Since you don't say, what makes you think this is a Virtualbox issue? how did you reach that conclusion?
