How to change number of CPUs or get rid of "VT-x is disabled

My host is Windows 8.1; I'm running v4.3.6. I have a 32-bit windows XP VM which runs fine, except it could do with a bit more CPU. I tried to change Settings - System - Processor to allocate another CPU, but that option is greyed out, so I have tried exporting the VM and then importing it, allocating 2 CPUs and a bit more memory to the newly imported VM. When I try to start this imported VM, I get the following error:

"Failed to open a session for the virtual machine XP_2.

VT-x is disabled in the BIOS. (VERR_VMX_MSR_VMXON_DISABLED).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {8ab7c520-2442-4b66-8d74-4ff1e195d2b6}"

Somewhere along the export and import, the package type seems to have been switched to 64-bit, even though I made sure the OS type is Windows XP (NOT 64-bit); log file is attached.

How can I either increase the number of CPUs for the original VM, or get the export-import to work?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Shut down the VM. Suspending is not shutting down.

The status was "Powered Off" when I tried to change the number of CPUs and when I ran the export; I don't know how to make it any more off than that.

Then perhaps this discussion from yesterday will help you.

Ta, all OK now; I was sure I'd switched VT-x on, but I had not - silly me.
