Hi All,
I have created one VirtualBox host (Windows XP professional) and assigned 1 GB ram to it. When I logged into my XP host and open task manager, i can see its using 1.8 GB of ram. I have installed lots of application and running one application server inside my XP.
it is strange and misleading, since I have assigned 1 GB ram to the host but its using more than 1 GB ram.
Any comments ?

XP is using 'Virtual Memory' and you need to assign more memory or clean up programs.
Actually it is a XP problem having limited RAM and you should Google it for cleaning up programs that is 'stealing' memory.

1GB is what you assigned as simulated RAM. I.e. that's the memory which the guest OS will see and use. The memory which the simulation uses for other things (such as simulated VRAM, file buffers, miscellania) comes on top of that.
Offhand I can't think of any Windows apps that let you configure the amount of RAM they'll use, in total.
