where is bridged network (I fixed it)

I recently re-imaged my win-7 machine and put oracle virtualbox 4.2 and 4.3 and the latest version on it.
Installing any of them failed to show bridged network, only the host-only network, as seen in 01.png attached. But looking deeper at the network properties I can see the vm bridged network adpater is installed, as seen in 02.png
This resulted in my VMs not working in bridged mode.
I've tried a lot, including setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\MaxNumFilters to 24, no luck either.
So how can I get bridged networking back? Any input will be gratefully received.
===== update ======
I think I found the answer: the Avast! new update has this 'disable internet sharing' mode by default. That kills bridge mode in VM!
