Windows XP VM Refuses To Start: Failed to Load VMMR0.r0

Post by Guser »

Hello,

I recently upgraded my Virtual Box to 4.3.6. It then refused to start up my XP VM, because I apparently lacked the requisite USB 2.0 extension and then would not let me install the extension. In frustration I uninstalled VB and attempted to reinstall 4.3.6 from the start, but now I have this error.

I googled it and the suggested solution was to sudo -rm or whatever and then reinstall, but that did not work and now I have the same problem.

The error message is:
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine WinXP.
Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SUPLIB_WRITE_NON_SYS_GROUP).
with details:
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {8ab7c520-2442-4b66-8d74-4ff1e195d2b6}
How do I get my Windows XP VM to run? I'm running OSX 10.6, if that helps any.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
