File dialog crashes VB

Under Windows 8.1 64 bit. Used to work fine under Windows 8 64 bit. Noticed that when I use open file dialog it crashes with message "Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager has stopped working" and "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Upgraded to 4.3.6 r91406 to see if that would help. It does not. This error is triggered any time I try to use a file open dialog. For example, Machine|Add. The dialog appears, then it immediately crashes. I don't even get to select anything. This could also occur if I try to create a new machine, but browse for a virtual hard drive. As soon as I click the browse button, the dialog opens, but the software crashes.

How do I troubleshoot this?

These kinds of problems that are reproducible should be reported to bugtracker. If you have not signed on to Bugtracker before you will need to select a new Nickname to be able to report issues.
It would also help if you can post the ticket number here so other can see the progress, add information, or see the final results.

Thanks. I found that the bug already is listed there at https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/12466 It apparently has existed under 4.3.4 as well, but I only recently upgraded to Windows 8.1. I don't really know what to do now. Just sit and wait?

Add your information to the existing ticket. VBox log, dump file, and anything else that would help.

FIXED! I found this on an Adobe Photoshop forum. I ran the shell extension manager, turned OFF anything that WASN'T Microsoft, restarted explorer (IMPORTANT) and voila! no more crashes. I can't post the U R L (can't even post "U R L" without the spaces), just Google "nirsoft ShellExView"
