Slow DNS lookups on XP guest

I'm on VB 4.3.6, host is win7x64, guest is winXPx32, I'm having slow (5-10 seconds) DNS lookups and some weird freezing when trying to access the shared folder early after the guest has booted. VB Guest Additions 4.3.6 installed.
The guest network adapter is set to NAT. I've tried changing adapter types etc, playing around with some settings but to no effect. Any ideas of how to proceed ?

Shared folder as in "guest additions and shared host folders"? There should be no need for a DNS query in your local network. This is most probably a Windows networking issue and I've been seeing delays in the shared folders since DOS was the most popular OS.

The shared fodler lagging goes away after a minute or so, the main problem is the delay while doing a DNS lookup. I just thought they may be related.

Thanks for the idea but it didn't seem to make a difference. I then went into my VM's connection's TCPIP settings and changed the automatic DNS obtaining with the OpenDNS IPs and the problem seems solved.
(Note, I'm using the OpenDNS IPs in my real connection, too.)
This also seems to mostly alleviate the non-responsivess when trying to access the shared folder immediately after Windows has loaded.
