guest won't start

The guest is an android (close enough to linux, I hope 
) provided by an outside source.
Since I don't run one of their "approved" distributions, I am not getting much advice from them (other than "it should work"), even though the virtuabox (binary) works fine wath other virtual machines.
When I attempt to start the guest, I get the following (timestamps rounded, since I had to type all of this in):
