Assigning multiple CPUs to the guest

Hi. I'm running VirtualBox 4.2.8 on a Lion Mac Pro and also on a brand-spanking new Mavericks MacBook Pro (max config). On both Macs, if I try to choose more than one CPU, I get this non=optimal warning. The user manual (pages 48-49) do not go into much detail.

Is hardware-level virtualization something I won't find on a Mac? I was preparing to order the new Mac Pro with 12 cores, but if I can't assign more than one core to the VM (in this case, Oracle Linux 5), 12 cores may be overkill for my needs. Could someone enlighten me on this?

Thanks.

Most probably IO/APIC is not enabled. Did you choose the "Oracle" or the "Oracle (64-bit)" template?

Perfect, thanks.

I imported the Developer Day appliance.

Then please check the settings|General|Version to ensure that the correct OS version has been selected, including the 64bit flag.

Yes that is correct. It was just this one setting that wasn't enabled after the import. Thanks.
