bridge network adapter missing after Win8.1 upgrade

Post by rsperduta »

I used the free upgrade to windows 8.1 from windows 8.
Now none of my virtual machines will start because the network adapter is not found.

Code: Select all

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine WinXPdev.

Nonexistent host networking interface, name 'Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller' (VERR_INTERNAL_ERROR).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {8ab7c520-2442-4b66-8d74-4ff1e195d2b6}

Does anyone know how to reinstall this network adapter please?

Note: It is not sufficient to run "repair" on the installation of virtualbox, but of you uninstall it and then reinstall it, the problem is solved.
My virtual machines were not affected... well the windows XP one works and I haven't tried all the others yet.
Anyway, just in case anyone else has this problem, it looks like reinstalling is the solution. :wink:
