ivsEdits2013LE_b450 setup OK, crash on run

Post by philITC »

VirtualBox: 4.3.6 on Win 7 64bits
Virtual Machine: Win XP SP3 pro

The install ivsEdit video editor(ivsEdits2013LE_b450_setup.exe ) on the virtual machine runs without error.

When I run the app, it crashes, I presume it's a wrong driver assignement.

What should I report?
Because if I run msinfo32.exe and I wish to report hardware & drivers, humm I see CPU x86 family 6 model 42 Stepping 7 and not my iCore 5

Thanks.

ivsEdit video editor has very specific requirements on the CPU/GPU and that may cause the crash. Remember VirtuualBox is emulating hardware, so do not expect your exact hardware to show up in a virtual machine.

Of course but what can be done to enhance the issue?

You can get a real computer with the minimum requirements. Virtualized machines (all of them not just VirtualBox) will never have the horsepower required by such programs. There is always going to be some overhead due to the translation native<->virtual.

I see nothing in this thread so far to indicate why this is being discussed in a VirtualBox forum at all. If you have problems with particular PC software then the first stop for support is with the developers of that software; and I would advise being precise about error messages seen, otherwise most replies will be no better than speculation.

Simply, I do not see if it is a VirtualBox bug or ivsEdits, as it works on other platform I suspect VirtualBox
